    Difference Between Edexcel And AQA

When choosing a UK-based exam board, Edexcel and AQA are two of the most popular options. Both offer qualifications for GCSEs and A Levels, but there are some differences in their structure, approach, and availability. Below, we explore these differences to help students and parents make informed decisions.

    Overview Of Edexcel

Edexcel is a part of Pearson, a global education company. It is widely recognised for its focus on international accessibility and digital learning tools. Edexcel provides qualifications in both GCSEs and A Levels, catering to students in the UK and worldwide.

    • Assessment Style: Edexcel exams often include structured questions and are considered straightforward. They aim to test understanding through direct questioning.
    • International Reach: It offers International GCSEs (IGCSEs) and is a popular choice for students in British international schools.
    • Flexibility: Edexcel provides modular and linear formats for some qualifications, giving schools and students more options.

    Overview Of AQA

AQA is an independent UK exam board and is well-known for its emphasis on in-depth subject knowledge. It is one of the largest providers of qualifications in England.

    • Assessment Style: AQA exams are designed to challenge students’ critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Some students find AQA questions more interpretive compared to Edexcel.
    • UK Focus: AQA qualifications are primarily aimed at students in England, with less emphasis on international programs.
    • Resources: AQA provides detailed resources for teachers, including lesson plans and specimen papers, to support classroom learning.

    Choosing The Right Exam Board

Choosing between Edexcel and AQA often depends on personal preferences and educational goals. Edexcel might suit students who prefer a more straightforward approach or require international qualifications. AQA, on the other hand, could be ideal for those who enjoy critical analysis and depth in their studies.

Example: Thomas Keith Online Independent School

Thomas Keith Online Independent School offers both Edexcel and AQA qualifications, catering to a diverse range of students. It allows flexibility for learners to choose the exam board that aligns with their academic needs and plans. For international students, Edexcel’s IGCSEs are a popular option, while UK-based learners might find AQA’s resources beneficial for in-depth learning.

With institutions like Thomas Keith Online Independent School, students can access the resources and support needed to excel in either qualification.

    A brilliant option

We have tried a number of online schools but Thomas Keith is miles ahead. The parent app makes a huge difference as I get notifications to let me know if my daughter is in class, late or absent! I also like the fact that you can see all their homework and grades in the app itself.

    I love my teachers

I love my teachers. They go out of their way to explain things properly to anyone who doesn’t understand something. I was a bit apprehensive at first to study online but now I will never go back to a physical school! We recently moved so my parents put me in this school.

    Better than we expected

Living in Germany we don’t have access to many British schools near us. We signed up to Thomas Keith Independent School thinking that it’d be a substitute for a school back home in the UK. The teachers are very supportive and the kids are actually loving attending school.

First time my kids love school

We tried a couple of other online schools and Thomas Keith is miles ahead. The bonuses they give are actually very useful, especially the parent app. The teachers really care about the kids succeeding. They’re also very friendly. It’s the first time my kids love going to school.

A big decision but a great one

Choosing Thomas keith was a big decision, and it’s turned out to be a great one. The teachers are exceptional – they’re not just delivering lessons but really engaging with the kids. I’m quite impressed with how they managed to make online learning so interactive and personal.

    I’m actually very impressed

Classes are quite small, usually around 10-15 students and my kids love the teaching style. I wasn’t expecting that much of a difference between this school and the others – and tbh my expectations weren’t that high, but I am really happy!

    Everything are organised

They have been very welcoming, both the teachers and other students. I am learning so much and the teachers really care about the students. It’s much better than all my other schools, Thank you to all the staff and teachers for helping me settle in so well.

    Not regretted it one bit

I have to say we have not regretted it one bit. Thomas Keith have been absolutely fantastic. Very caring teachers. The kids love their school and it’s so nice to see them actually enjoying learning and studying. I wish we’d done this years back but glad we are finally here. Definitely recommend the TK.

    Feels more personal

It just feels more personal here. They seem to really understand what works for her and she’s becoming more confident and actually enjoying learning again. It’s not perfect but it’s been such a positive change for us. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about trying something different.
